Second season of the creative and poetic collaboration between KRISVANASSCHE and the Peruvian brand Misericordia.
As from February, eleven T-shirt designs will be available in shops all displaying beautiful and striking prints from the designer Aurelyen.
More magic to come from messages of love such as ‘no leer antes de que me vaya’, ‘deseos no desaparecen’ and with “KRISVANASSCHE sewn by La Cabaña de Alta Costura Misericordia” stamped inside the T-shirts as always.
In 2008, Kris Van Assche and Aurelyen, who created Misericordia, bumped into each other by chance in Buenos Aires during their respective holiday. Both being fans of Latin America, they chatted, got on well and discussed a future collaboration.
Kris Van Assche kept his word and not only did he visit Misericordia’s workshops in the suburbs of Lima, Peru, but he also initiated a common project in order to highlight their manufacturing qualities and their creative and innovative style. Joining forces with a designer of international renown is a proof of recognition, and it is with that objective that Kris Van Assche committed himself in this collaboration with sincerity and passion.
First ready-to-wear Peruvian brand, MISERICORDIA is a genuine human adventure which combines and strives for an urban modernity with a view to being ethical.
The small scale and precise production of “La Cabaña de Alta Costura Misericordia’s” workshop (about 25.000 pieces per year distributed throughout the world) is carried out by about forty employees, all from unprivileged backgrounds. The company embodies alter-internationalism and wants to offer “fair” employment to contribute to the development of a poor region. During production, from start to finish, the workshop’s employees guarantee the exclusivity of unique and handcrafted designs made out of rare and luxurious fabrics such as the Peruvian Pima cotton, Alpaca wool or organic cotton.
With its utopian and egalitarian dream, Misericordia offers an alternative system where men’s work is respected and valued. Courageous and daring, this unusual workshop is an everyday gamble on the future made by its founder and designer, Aurelyen, who relentlessly travels the world to promote it.
This collaboration between KRISVANASSCHE and Misericordia is the fruit of an unexpected and fortunate encounter. One of freedom and the struggle to conserve it, one of hope and respect. To be followed…

A suivre…

Traveling all over the world to meet French entrepreneurs is the project of Matthieu, Jean-Baptiste and Gregory. Recently certificated by the ESSCA, a business school, they decided to discover new horizons …with bicycles. During 1 year they have crossed more than 30 countries, covered thousands of kilometers, met hundreds entrepreneurs, it was a pleasure to welcome them in our company!

This association helps the children of the streets of Lima. It focuses especially on the Rimac, district located in the Northwest of the city. A place specially fitted out welcomes the children during the afternoon. The purpose of this kind of center is the reintegration of the children of the street. Here, they can wash themselves, wash their clothes, take a snack and especially to benefit from an educational system. The hard challenge of these centers is to make these children regular members.
To promote the project and to raise fund, the association organizes fundraising dinner – lottery in the Country Club of Lima. Among the prize you may win a Misericordia clothe!

Aurelyen, accompanied by a small part of the workshop team, took an 8 hour bus ride from Lima up to Yurinaki, a small village found in the heart of the Peruvian central rainforest. La madre Leticia, a nun who has been a close friend of Mision Misericordia ever since its foundation back in 2002, had set up a primary school in this village, and had asked Aurelyen to act as a father figure and mentor to the 5B grade.
Aurelyen had been asked to design and confection the graduation uniforms for this this grade. The workshop worked on waterproof materials for these uniforms, considering the climate of the region.
A big party was thrown for the school’s opening, which involved fireworks and good food. Aurelyen bought a tie in the middle of the jungle in order to look fit for the occasion. All in all a good experiance, and Misericordia is thrilled to be associated with another humanitarian adventure.
