A wake-up call at the workshop: The success of Misericordia is a team!
As we finish off the new collection, the pressure rises. And the many problems which used to appear trivial now seem unbridgeable. Amongst the many difficulties each day brings: suppliers failing to turn up at appointments, a lack of space in the workshop preventing better organization, and language and communication problems between interns and peruvian staff. And so for all these reasons, and many more still, we sometimes get discouraged. Yesterday, a worker decided to quit. She left the workshop without saying goodbye to the friends she had made here, and without providing Aurelyen with an explication.

Aureylen could not understand her actions, and asked himself whether the Peruvian workers were really aware of the impact they are creating with Mision Misericordia. And so he decided to organise a small crisis meeting, where he made a point of telling the members of team that the impact they are making is wonderful. This is not an easy thing to do, seeing as the Peruvians have great difficulty understanding just how big the Misericordia brand has grown to be. We often get the impression that even after repeatedly telling them that Misericordia is considered one of the best clothing brands worldwide and that its clothes are sold in some of the very best boutiques, although they understand what they’re being told, it doesn’t really sink in. But all this must be a long term effort which will be far from easy, but definately worth it.
