Today we left the workshop for Zapallal, to attend the inauguration of the school named Mi Otro Mundo, a school which Misericordia helped set up. The day was a great success, and those present were very appreciative of the pupils’ school uniforms, created and confectioned by Misericordia.

Aujourd’hui on est reparti à Zapallal, assister à l’inauguration de l’école Mi Otro Mundo, une école à laquelle Misericordia a en parti contribué. La journée fut un grand succès, et les personnes présentes ont beaucoup aimé l’uniforme des élèves créé et confectionné par Misericordia.

Aurelyen, accompanied by a small part of the workshop team, took an 8 hour bus ride from Lima up to Yurinaki, a small village found in the heart of the Peruvian central rainforest. La madre Leticia, a nun who has been a close friend of Mision Misericordia ever since its foundation back in 2002, had set up a primary school in this village, and had asked Aurelyen to act as a father figure and mentor to the 5B grade.
Aurelyen had been asked to design and confection the graduation uniforms for this this grade. The workshop worked on waterproof materials for these uniforms, considering the climate of the region.
A big party was thrown for the school’s opening, which involved fireworks and good food. Aurelyen bought a tie in the middle of the jungle in order to look fit for the occasion. All in all a good experiance, and Misericordia is thrilled to be associated with another humanitarian adventure.

For over two years now, Carlos Alejandro Monteverde Vilchez has been the driving force of the Mision Misericordia project. He manages and overlooks logistics as well as all the administrative components of our project. It was also he who had the courage to construct this project with Aurelyen in Peru. In order to pay tribute to he who has contributed so much to the development of Mision Misericordia, this item of the summer 2007 collection bears his name: Don Carlos de la Misericordia.

Cela fait plus de deux ans maintenant que Carlos Alejandro Monteverde Vilchez agit en tant que Capitaine de croisière pour Mision Misericordia. Il gère et supervise toute la logistique et toute la partie administrative de notre projet. C’est également lui qui a eu le courage de construire ce projet avec Aurelyen au Pérou. Cette pièce de la collection été 2007 porte son nom: Don Carlos de la Misericordia.

Together, we celebrated mother’s day at the workshop. Until you’ve actually been to Peru, you won’t realize the importance this day has in this country. The women concerned were Blanca, Erminda, Marouja, Edith and Flor, the 5 mothers of the workshop. In the evening, after the day’s work, all members of the workshop shared a drink and paid tribute to these extraordinary ladies. We gave each of them a rose, and we ended the occasion with a typical Peruvian game: La Canasta. This game consists of filling a number of baskets with milk, honey, rice, pasta, drinks, etc. brought by the different members pf the team. Two winners were picked out of a hat.

Ensemble, nous avons fêté la fête des mères à l’atelier. Il faut vraiment voir l’ampleur et l’importance que prends cette journée ici au Pérou pour le croire. La journée était dédiée à Blanca, Erminda, Marouja, Edith et Flor, les 5 mères de l’atelier. Le soir, après la journée de travail, tous les membres de l’équipe se sont regroupés autour d’un verre pour rendre hommage à ces femmes extraordinaires. On a offert une rose à chacune d’entre elles, et on a fini avec un jeu typique du Pérou pour l’occasion: La Canasta. Ce jeu consiste à remplir des paniers avec du lait, du miel, du riz, des pates, des boissons, etc. apportés par tous. On a tiré au sort deux gagnants des lots.

Carlos Monteverde is a huge corrida fan. It had been over twenty years since he had last experienced the pleasure of going to the arenas in Acho, where he once was one of the secret keepers and vital components. He was a proper regular who would go to the arena every single sunday along with his friends.
On a beautiful day in November, Aurelyen offered him with the oppotunity to go back to Acho, in order to attend the wonderful spectacle that is corrida. It was a first for Aurelyen. Whilst not defending the corrida, the idea was to experience something unique and intense in Lima, Lima being a real corrida city where thousands of aficionados come to see and admire the bulls. This particular day, Aurelyen and Carlos went to enjoy the show being put on by the french bull-fighter Sebastián Castella, currently one of the best bull-fighters worldwide, who performed an absolutely splendid and courageous fanai. This arena is the only one in Lima, one of the oldest and most beautiful arenas in Latine America, and is found in the central part of the city close to the river Rimac. It was wonderful to see the Peruvians so well dressed for the occasion, all equipped with their little handkerchiefs, in tune with the intensity displayed by both bull and bull-fighter.
For Aurelyen, this was an opportunity to learn from the master, Carlos, about all the rules and tricks of the trade within the arena. And for Carlos, it was an opportunity to explain to Aurlyen why he felt such a strong attraction to this bloody sport.

Carlos Monteverde est un grand fan de corrida. Cela faisait plus de vingt ans qu’il n’avait pas eu le plaisir d’aller aux arènes d’Acho, dont il était un des secrétaires et piliers. Il était un véritable habitué qui assistait à ce spectacle tout les dimanches avec ses amis.
En cette belle journée de novembre, Aurélyen l’a invité à retourner à Acho, afin d’assister à ce magnifique spectacle qu’est la corrida. Ce fût une première pour Aurélyen. Ici, il ne convient pas de défendre la corrida, mais simplement d’assister à un spectacle fort et insolite à Lima, Lima une vraie ville de corrida où il y a des milliers d’aficionados qui viennent voir et admirer les taureaux. Ce jour là, Aurelyen et Carlos sont allés voir le toréador français Sebastián Castella, un des tout meilleurs toréadors mondiaux actuels, qui a fait une fanai absolument splendide et courageuse. Cette arène est la seule de Lima, une des plus belles et anciennes d’Amérique Latine, située au centre de la ville au bord du fleuve Rimac. C’était magnifique de voir tout ces péruviens très bien habillés pour l’occasion, tous avec leurs petits mouchoirs blancs, en train de respirer et s’animer au rythme du taureau et du toréador.
Pour Aurélyen ce fut surtout l’occasion d’apprendre toutes les règles et mouvements au près du maître Carlos. Et pour Carlos, c’était l’occasion pour lui d’expliquer à Aurélyen pourquoi il éprouvait une attraction aussi fatale envers ce spectacle opposé par certains.

Une grosse fête pour célébrer notre nouvelle collection et pour le plaisir de danser ensemble. Car il faut être clair, l’équipe de Misericordia, ce qu’elle aime: c’est danser!!! Donc on s’est retrouvé au Cascajal, un club situé près de l’atelier où nous attendait une grosse selection de viandes cuites à la braisse et beaucoup de bière. L’ambiance était chaude et le reste est confidentiel…
